What a month March has been – the month of the champions! Outdoor season, here they come, well trained and in good shape!

What a month March has been – the month of the champions! TASH Team Gold medals have been popping up all over the place – in England as well as abroad. We are so proud of our archers. Outdoor season, here they come, well trained and in good shape!

Märt Oona became National Indoor Champion, at the Estonian National Indoor Championships. “I was struggling with shots throughout the day, but lead the qualification and pushed through the finals for Gold.”

Fiona Hirst won the Vegas Shoot and broke Scottish record on Sunday 2nd of March, and three weeks later made a successful team with Malcolm Alexander at Northern Area Champs and became Ladies and Gents Northern Area Recurve champions and Recurve team. 

Rebekah Tipping placed herself 1st in Ultimate Archer at BUTTS League Champs in Derby, winning the Champs Portsmouth with 587/600, in total combined score throughout the league. Then she had a great weekend with Birmingham at BUCS indoor finals, where she took the Bronze individual medal and Gold team medal with Eleanor and Evelina! “I feel strong and confident for this outdoor season.” 

Mirran Yule has set the new Scottish record and took the Gold at Vegas championship. 

Michael Aubrey did all the Portsmouth postal league shoots, finishing with the highest compound club scores again this season topping the A team.“I’m not an indoors kind of person, but if required I can do it, I have the club record for Portsmouth with a 597 and I have always shot with my X10 Protour even indoors.” Michael has attended the England training weekend at Eaton manor and the Lancashire compound team selection and training weekend, and he also has entered the European Masters in Turin.

Rachel Vines took the 1st place at the Gloucestershire Indoor Championships and 1st place at the Deer Park Stafford.

Brett Stringer enjoyed his first outdoor competition of 2019, Whitehill Archers’ Official Double 70m. “Great fun with the biggest field of Gents Barebows. I have shot with at a Double 720 (11 of us in total) and got the win!”

Euan Pride had a successful day at the Northern Area Indoor Champs and won two trophies for U16 Compound Boy and Overall Junior Boy, on March 24th.

Eléonore Cossade won the indoor club champs at Oxford Archers – Lady Recurve Experienced and got Gold in the same category at OUIT (Oxford University Indoor Tournament)

Magnus Fredriksson took the 3rd place at “Distriktsmästerskap”, his first indoor competition this year – (281 in the first round, 293 in the second round) – one of the highest scoring rounds in all the state championships (Sweden) at the time. “Even though this was a scoring of World Archery, I’m proud to say that I’m still learning to compete indoors and this was my first ever 300 round with X23 if comparing to Vegas shoot.” 

Shauna Punjabi came 1st place for recurve girls at the March Madness Shoot 2019. “First outdoor shoot of the season for me at Whitehill Archers March Madness, and first competition with my new Hoyt Formula X riser. My score was ok given that it’s very early in the year and still a little chilly outside and I came home with a lovely 1st place glass trophy.”

Marcus Yeoman came away with a new county record for the 25m and the combined round, with Newquay Bowman for a Combined WA25/18m. 

Oliver Robinson won the 1st place – junior compound, in the North Meols Archers Portsmouth round. It has been one of his favourite shoots of the year. “The people are always so friendly, and the tournament always well run”. 

Sinead Byrne received A trophy for being U14 Indoor British Champion and A trophy for best target archer, at her club’s award night, placed 3rdin the women’s category, at WRS. N. Ireland Performance Academy 720 + H2H’s competition and attended WRS. N. Ireland Performance Academy Double 720 competitionand The Compound Youth & Development Squad in Lilleshall.

Saffron Cullen (Ireland) became Second year Senior National Champion and fourth year Cadet Champion. 

Mark Sharvin became the Irish National Indoor Championships (indoor, compound, men’s section) and also placed 3rd in the mixed team event with fellow sponsored archer Saffron Cullen. 

Jaime Rodriguez (Spain) took part in the first national Grand Prix in Caceres and trained a lot with Elias Cuesta (Spanish national coach) at Madrid Technification Centre to improve his technique and performance.

Jasmine Simpson shot her first Vegas round on March 3rd and won at the Waterside Archers Clout – March 16th-17th.

Shanon Benton took the Gold medal at the Irish Indoor National Championships.

Mandi Theron shot the Gauteng Indoor Championship and got 3rd place. 

Hannah Burnage participated in BUCS indoor finals.

Luca Wright participated in his first BUCS indoors and and BUCS finals 2019. “I can’t be too unhappy coming joint 33rd at my first BUCS indoors! Can’t wait for outdoor season to start….”

Luke Davis came 1st with a score of 563, in his last indoor competition, and 1st with a score of 942/972 and in his first competition of the outdoor season. 

Hannah Ackland-Snow shot at the Oxfordshire Indoor Junior Championships and won, becoming Under 14 junior ladies recurve champion for 2019.
