Team TASH - May 2019 Updates

There are days like these, when being archers seems to be the second nature of our team members.

A very active month for our impassioned archers. There are days like these, when being archers seems to be the second nature of our team members. And the results of their participations in national and international competitions prove it. 

Gergo Deak won the 1stplace at Cere FITA 720, the 1stplace at Cere Racing Monday, and the 1stplace at Salvia, Praha. 

Rachel Vines won the 1stplace at Deer Park WA720, the 1stplace at Cleve Double WA720, the 1stplace at Salisbury WA1440 and the 1stplace at Devizes Top Ten.

Hannah Burnage has been selected to represent GB for the first time at the World University Games this summer.

Lizzie Foster won the first stage of the National Tour and came 3rdoverall at Bucks or Bounty.

Lydia Sinnett-Smith won the City of Cambridge Bowmen WA720 competition.

Jim Metcalfe participated in the first 2 national tournaments of the year EFAA spring championships held at the beginning of the month and came away with 2ndplace after a close finish. He also participated in NFAS National 3D champs and came away with 3rdplace, good results for early on in the season.

Marcus Yeoman won the 1stplace at Redruth, with a new PB 692 for the first set, finishing with a 1375, and came away 2ndonly by 3 golds at Exmouth – 1220 for the first York of the year and 1stfull round of the summer. 

Bethany Sinclair came 1stat the Kent invitation shoot (the 4 counties shoot). She also coached at a beginners’ course.

Rebekah Tipping shot a new BUTTS League Record at BUTTS Outdoor Champs with 885, Albion, May 18th

Sinead Byrne became the U18 compound British Champion at the ABO Field Championships held in Mount Stewart and hosted by Lough Cuan Bowmen. She alsoattended the Bucks or Bounty National Tour stage 1 competition in Lilleshall, represented GB at the European Youth Cup in Slovenia (her 1stInternational competition). Qualification round – she was ranked 9th. She won her 1stH2H (136-127) against Czech Republic and took the 6thplace overall in the competition. Team rounds they took 4thplace. 

Andy Caine shot the Southern Counties Archery Meeting (SCAM) and won the 2ndplace.

Harry McKeown participated in Bucks or Bounty and won the 14thplace.

Michael Kells competed at the Bucks or Bounty national series stage 1 and managed to seed 5thin the ranking round. He Finished 10thoverall for the whole weekend. Also he shot in the Kent Archery Invitational 1440 shoot (an invite shoot within Kent for reaching bowman), won first gents compound with 1367 (GMB score) and a new county record for the 50m section of the round shooting 352.

Ellie Cole did a full Ladies FITA at the Senior Surrey Championships and won Silver; she won Silver in the Team Recurve Category, too. Ellie also shot at the Junior Masters event and ranked 7thin the U16/U18 category. 

Itay Shanny won a national cup competition in Israel, at the beginning of May, and ended the month coming first in qualifications and winning the first two matches in a national outdoor championship. During May, he also went over to the beiter center in Germany for tuning and training.

Fiona Hirsht and Malcolm Alexander participated at Bucks or Bounty. Fiona finished the 14th.

Yulia Larkins won first place in Ladies Recurve category at The High Weald Archery Club Double WA70.

Brett Stringer participated in Devizes Top Ten Tournament 2019 and improved on his PB for a York.

Mark Sharvin came 3rdand 1ston day 3 and 4 of the Irish National Series. He also represented Ireland at the Antalya leg of the World Archery World Cup and placed 57th.

Luca Wright shot the NEUAL outdoor Championships and he is now training hard for BUCS outdoors.

Euan Pride competed in the Penicuik WA1440 double. He shot a PB of 1345 and won the U16 boy compound shooting a Metric II. He also competed at Glamis castle, shooting a Bristol II, he got a PB of 1260, winning the U16 category and also won the Jean Duncan Memorial Trophy for highest scoring junior. 

Jack Lucas shot in a couple of tournaments; the one that stands out the most for him was a shoot in Lincoln in which he shot a WA70 and H2H and was placed as a senior. He managed to finish the 6thin the ranking and the 4thin the semi-final – H2H. 

Mirran Yule won the Bronze medal setting 2 new Scottish U16 records at Clyde UK 70m 720, in the senior ladies’ division. She also participated in the GB Junior Master Bowman Championship – Oxford, the U18 category, and finished a very commendable 6thplace shooting 60m. She broke the Scottish U16 60m record. 

Ben Gibson came 2ndat IFAA Hunter Round held by Roe Valley Archery Club and 5that the Unmarked IFAA 3D round held by Drumquin Archery Club. 

Anna Hunter came 1stat Unmarked IFAA 3D round held by Drumquin Archery Club and 1stat IFAA Hunter Round held by Roe Valley Archery Club.

Oliver Robinson took part in his 2ndArchery GB Junior Masters shoot, held at Oxford Archers. This year having turned 12 it was a whole new level for him, now shooting in the Under 21 categories. He went into the Head to Heads relaxed and managed to pull a 6 point lead on his first H2H, putting him up against Lewis Haslam (who was awarded Champion of Champions). He also participated in Double Bristol rounds at Bronte Archers; he finished the day 1 on 1200 points and the day 2 he managed 1226 and came 2ndagain. “Happy with the weekend overall: 2 Junior Master Bowman scores, so just need 1 more for 2019 1 new Lancashire Archery Record”.
Oliver also participated in the Beacon Archers Westerns, in Cumbria and managed 400 at 50 yards and 416 and 40 yards.

Jaime Rodrigues took part in 4thNational Grand Prix in Madrid and finished the qualification round on 26thposition. Jaime won the 1/24 round by the “golden arrow” and finally have fallen in 1/16 by a 7/3 round.

Katsaitis Panagiotis participated in 2 competitions during May. The first was on the 12thof May in Patras, in which he came first with a score of 622/720. The second competition was on the 18thof May in Athens, in which he came 4thwith a score of 617/720. 

Charlie Birch took her first master bowman score at Meriden.

Jasmine Simpson won Junior Ladies U18 Bare-bow at the Harlequin Bowmen Clout. 

Mandi Theron shot another personal best at The Arnold Classis 2019. Last year she just started with her recurve bow and this year she won Silver.

Jurgen Hoxha won the 2ndposition in Kosovo Spring Tournament outdoor, Held in Suhareka City.

Märt Oona – “first competition in Estonia done, first win in the bag at Pärnu season opening.” 

Shannon Benton got the 1stfirst place at Valley Bowmen Unmarked animal round that was held on May 19th.She also attended the All British Open Field Archery Championships 2019 Lough Cuan Bowmen (LCB) Mount Stewart Demense (25/26th May) and won the U15 barebow girls category.
