Jacob Caine (14) is from Old Basing, Hampshire and has been shooting compound for over 4 years.

Jacob would describe himself as being ambitious, determined, focused and committed to working hard to achieve his goals. He enjoys competing and the camaraderie which comes with it. As part of The Archery Shop team, Jacob feels confident and proud when he’s shooting both at home and away.

His greatest achievement to date in archery is the recent confirmation that he will be shooting as Team GB for the European Championships (Vittel, France in March 2017). Jacob loves being part of the Archery GB squad and always has great fun – “a lot of people from the GB team have a GREAT sense of humour” he says.

Jacob competed in the UK National Series, the World Cup Stage 3 in Nimes, France, finishing in 9th place in the Junior Compound (under 21) competition. He also competed at the Kings of Archery in the Netherlands for the second year running; this has given him a fantastic opportunity to compete with many of the great archers both in Europe and the rest of the World.

Seb Peineau is Jacob’s sporting hero. Not only is he a great athlete with dedication and commitment to the sport, but he has a good sense of humour and he is very friendly – Jacob told us that they shot together a few times in The Netherlands.

Outside of school, Jacob is very committed to regular training. This includes shooting both indoors and outdoors during the week and at weekends, along with going to the gym – he follows a tailored programme from the GB squad which has enabled him to work on his core strength and fitness. Jacob has great fun when he is shooting, archery is a great sport for all and allows people of all abilities to compete against each other.
